 Starting point of this musical exploration is the question: Can the swarm make music? Together with musician and programmer Howard Huang, Matthias Einhoff developed a software, which translates the white and black tiles of a matrix into a sinusoidal tone or uses this matrix to control a sequenzer of a drummachine. In an experimental setting two swarms explore the possibilities and limitations of making music without instructions. The music-machine is part of a research and exhibition project exploring the ‘wisdom of the swarm’ as part of a NGBK workgroup.
